The perfect stretching aid for the Calf, Achilles Tendon & Hamstring Muscle. Improve your Ankle range & flexibility to prevent those frequent or persistent running injuries. Stretch the back of the knee to alleviate knee stiffness & pain. Use the Groovi-Decline to follow a tendon rehabilitation strengthening programme for Runners knee & Jumpers knee.

Description

Description

Muscle tightness is a very common issue among the general population, and even more prevalent among seniors, deskbound workers who spend hours in sustained flexed postures, as well as the sporting population, especially runners. The foot, ankle, calf, knee, hip, pelvic and lower back regions can be easily damaged as a result of poor posterior chain muscle flexibility. Posterior chain structures include the plantar fascia and foot flexors, the achilles tendon, calf muscles, structures at the back of the knee, hamstring muscles and their tendinous attachments onto the pelvis and lower back.as well as their associated fascia.

The Decline Board is a Calf, Achilles and Hamstring (posterior chain muscles) stretching device that helps to increase flexibility, improve posture, and promote rehabilitation of lower leg injuries. Injuries that will benefit from the use of the Decline Board include Achilles Tendon pain, Ankle stiffness, Shinsplints, Calf strains, Knee Stiffness and Knee Osteoarthritis resulting in a loss of knee extension range of movement. Injuries higher up the posterior chain that will benefit from the use of the Decline Board include hamstring origin pain, hip & gluteal pain, pelvic and lower back pain.

Alleviating posterior chain inflexibility can dramatically improve the overall health of an individual, as well as the overall quality of life.

The use of an inclined stretching platform prevents ankle joint pain & assists in a more effective stretch to improve ankle range of movement. The inclined angle reduces load on the ankle (talocrural) joint. This allows people who tend to feel a pinch at the front of their ankle when they perform a standard calf stretch to now stretch effectively.

The Groovi Decline board can also be used to eccentrically strengthen the Patellar Tendon in patients presenting with patellar tendinopathy, more commonly known as Runners knee or Jumpers knee. The loaded position on the Decline Board has been found in various studies to focus optimal progressive loading to facilitate tendon healing.

Groovi-Decline Board Info For The Patient

Groovi-Decline Board Info For The Patient

The Decline Board is angled at 25 degrees. Since the development of the use of a Decline in eccentric rehabilitation by Tendon expert Jill Cook, much research has shown its benefits to:

  1. Rehabilitate Tendon injuries, especially the Patellar Tendon.
  2. Eccentrically strengthen and build the quadriceps muscle. Great training for closed chain exercise, such as cycling and downhill skiing.
  3. Effectively stretch the calf muscle. Improving flexibility improves lower limb biomechanics.
  4. Improve lower limb biomechanics/ alignment to improve or reduce injury and improve performance.

The Decline Board is angled at 25 degrees. Since the development of the use of a Decline in eccentric rehabilitation by Tendon expert Jill Cook, much research has shown its benefits to:

2: Improve calf flexibility without impinging the ankle anteriorly. This is crucial to restore ankle dorsiflexion Range of Movement (ROM).
A loss of ankle dorsiflexion ROM leads to an increase in ground reaction forces and thus Achilles and Patella tendon loading. This increases the risk of developing Achilles or Patellar Tendinopathies.
